Results on matrix materials
The HWU and University Bern team have measured the PLQY of β-NaYF4:Er3+ UC phosphor under broadband excitation. The PLQY has been shown to increase from 8.7% to 16.2% as the bandwidth of the incident 1.5 mm light from 12 nm to 61 nm. The resulting PLQY of 16.2 ± 0.5% at 2270 ± 100 mW mm-2 (0.0007 W-1 cm2) or equivalently 155·103 ± 7·103 suns is the highest value reported in the literature.
